United Filters International Engineering Services provide rapid design and prototyping services for unique customer applications. We specialize in custom designs, short runs, and private labeling and packaging to support our customers’ new emerging market applications. Specialty medias, cartridges and applications include: No Scale: This NSF 61-approved hexapolyphosphate media is available in all standard filter cartridges. This media inhibits continued corrosion and scale build-up in pipes and other wetted surfaces, as well as having the ability to remove existing scale. No Scale media will not break down under higher temperatures (can be used with temperatures up to 165ºF), making it an excellent choice for water heater, tankless water heater and boiler applications. Catalytic Carbon: Compatible with multi-stage water treatment systems, coconut shell catalytic carbon has the ability to absorb chloramines and hydrogen sulfide in potable water. Catalytic carbon can also reduce herbicides, pesticides and other organic compounds, making it an ideal media for treating multiple contaminants. Clay: This cost-effective media will absorb oil and other hydrocarbons in potable water treatment applications. It is highly effective in removing benzene, ethyl benzene, toluene and xylene to barely detectable levels. Granular clay is 700% more effective than granular carbon. Zeolite: Granular zeolite is a non-toxic, natural micro-porous, aluminosilicate mineralcapable of absorbing heavy metals including: mercury, cadmium, lead, arsenic, aluminum, tin and iron. Zeolite will also remove radioactive particles to include cesium and strontium-90 from soluble solutions. Ion Exchange Resin: This media is commonly used in the production of ultra-pure (de-ionized) water as a polishing stage for electronics industry wafer and microchip manufacturing. Bone Char: Natural Bone Char is derived from charred animal bones. The result is Kosher-Certified, 100% organic bone char made of 80% phosphate of calcium, 10% carbon and 10% calcium carbonate. This media lasts a long time, has no toxicity and leaves behind beneficial minerals. There is no pH effect, and it is highly effective in reducing chlorine, heavy metals (such as zinc, lead cadmium, mercury, iron, manganese, copper, aluminum, nickel, arsenic), and radioactive particles (such as uranium and radium), pesticides and herbicides, as well as the fluoride. Fluoride is difficult to remove, and the calcium content in the bone char is what reduces the fluoride. Calcium attracts the fluoride whether it is calcium or sodium-based. Suction/Scavenger Stainless Steel Filters: These all-stainless steel-louvered filters with inner screens withstand differential operating pressures in excess of 150 psi. They are commonly used with mobile vacuum pump trucks for water recycling in oil fields. They were designed to support ease-of-field disassembly and cleaning. String, Melt Blown, and Pleated: Multi-layered string, pleated, and melt blown configurations (with or without carbon options) accommodate customers’ unique needs that include the following removal or reduction: submicron contaminants, hydrocarbons, heavy metals, organic compounds, particulates, sediment, and taste and odor reduction within a single filter cartridge. Activated Carbon Canisters: Bulk activated granular carbon is specially selected to maximize performance in gas processing applications where the target contaminant is a long chain of hydrocarbon molecules. These all-metal granular canisters are used extensively in natural gas exploration, and production and transport. Call the experts at United Filters for your next customized filtration project!
